before/ after
bright and cheerful
a pair of 1940s french chairs are casually draped with sheepskins for added softness and sit either side of an deco circular nesting coffee table while the custom silk curtains are a rather decadent touch to the room.
relax and comfortable
a white slip covered sofa give this home a relaxed, comfortable feel while being spruced up with silk and velvet cushions. An antique lacquered chinese rice barrel doubles as storage and a side table. The sofa is flanked by a pair of early deco jade floor lamps with cream silk shades which emit a soft warm light. The oversized painting adds a fun, welcoming aspect and hints at a room not to be taken too seriously.
fun and stylish
an office area is gained by sectioning off an area with a small Le Corbusier sofa. The desk, which looks out into the room is a french polished deco lemonwood in a waterfall style.
Faux wood paneling and popcorn ceiling was removed, and the walls were painted a fresh beachglass color. Baseboards and wood framed windows were replaced and emerald green sheers by Designers Guild were hung to give privacy without blocking light.
a burled walnut art deco table takes center stage, surrounded by chairs upholstered in lipstick pink leather for a fun jolt and modern approach while an original deco polished chrome light hangs from the ceiling adding a touch of glamour. The painting acts as focal point in the room and invites one in while the gilded cast iron victorian coat and umbrella stand acts to delineate the entrance from the dining room.
